Cheyenne and Geoff must have heard me talking about them–they just posted a sneak peek at what they’ve been shooting over the past month, including one engagement photo of Jon and me! You can catch it (and more of their awesome work) here.
And I can also cross off #4 from my list below. Turns out our wedding coordinator LOVES the string quartet I’ve been talking to, so I might try to book them tonight, if they’re still available. Things are falling into place.

Ok, if you know me you know I’m the worst at making decisions (hence the fact that we still haven’t officially picked our wedding colors). Well, it’s getting down to the wire–this Friday marks the six-month countdown to our wedding, ahh!–and we still have WAY too much to do. And the fact that our photographers told us that those six months are just going to fly by doesn’t make me feel any better!
So I made a list of wedding-related goals for this week. We crossed a few off last night but still have a way to go:
On the bright side, we had a lovely engagement photo shoot with our photographers in Charlotte’s NoDa neighborhood. I can’t wait to see how our photos turn out! I’ll be sure to post them (or a link to Cheyenne’s blog) when we get them.
Whew! After taking Kiley to the vet, giving her a bath, running errands, and meeting a friend for dinner, Jon and I finally got around to making a few pinwheels to use at our engagement session tomorrow! Here’s a peak at what we’ve come up with:
It’s actually pretty easy to make these! We couldn’t find many paper options that match our [proposed] wedding colors, so we just picked up what we liked and went with it. We’ll see how things go tomorrow at our shoot!
That’s all for now–we have to go to mass tomorrow (what?!). THAT will be interesting too. I’ll let you know how that goes. Oh, and as for the gift I got for Jon for our anniversary: Bruce Springsteen tickets for Nov. 3! He’s pretty excited, especially now that Bruce has announced he’ll be performing all of his “Born to Run” album. Beautiful!
Sorry for being MIA, friends! I was lucky enough to visit my kindred spirit/best friend/maid of honor in Minnesota this weekend! I took off on Thursday of last week, and although we just jumped from bridal salon to bridal salon, searched through a ton of wedding magazines, and watched A LOT of Say Yes to the Dress, it was amazing! I really wish Ms. Keylime could live here so we could do that ALL the time. Bummer…
So now I am back in NC–and things are so hectic! Things at work fell apart while I was gone, so I have to piece that back together. And we met with Father Jude, Jon’s only hope of having a Catholic ceremony. He’s completely okay with me being a heathen (in fact, it works out in our favor that I’m not baptized, especially for an outdoor ceremony). Now we have to go to Catholic workshops and premarital counseling–IF the diocese will approve the marriage. I will let you know how that goes. Sheesh!
That’s all the wedding news for me just now, but I did buy these amazing shoes while I was in MN:
Aren’t they fantastic? Vintage and modern all in one! They just might make an appearance in our engagement photo session this weekend.

Oh dear…I’ve think we’ve decided on yet another color scheme.
It’s actually one of the ones we considered in the beginning (you’ll see it in the save the dates I created and our little logo on the top of this page): shades of gray and yellow. It’s so fresh and sunny–and springy! It’s perfect for April, and I think it would look great at Graylyn. Take a look at these photos (lovingly borrowed from Style Me Pretty); I think they did a beautiful job of using these colors (and I love the bouquets!).
The girls will still wear gray dresses in their own styles, and the guys might be in black suits with yellow ties. I think Jon likes this color palette most of all. Thoughts from the rest of you?
